HOW WILL THE VARIETY OF SPORTS BENIFIT THE CHILDREN?

SOCCER

Soccer, like other team sports, offers numerous benefits to young children, both in terms of physical and psychological development. It stimulates their young minds and helps them to develop good coordination to use their feet without the assistant of hands or stationary movement.

BASKETBALL

Basketball offers children a range of skills including the fundamentals such as bouncing, rolling, dribbling, passing and shooting. It also builds on children’s ability to develop skills in teamwork, good sportsmanship and social interactions.

ATHLETICS

Athletics is one of the most beneficial programs we offer. This is where children can build mental resilience and grow as an individual. They will learn to run, jump, throw and catch as well as work in groups to complete obstacle courses. In turn, they build and develop problem solving skills to complete these tasks. They will improve their speed, agility and strength as well as coordination and stability in each skill area.

AFL

AFL involves the children using a non-round ball meaning the ball can go in any direction. This allows young athletes to improve their change of direction but also judge how to use their minds to make informed decisions about the game. Children will develop core skills of handballing and marking, following instructions, working as team and finally, kicking goals.

DEVELOPMENTS OF SPORT

Participation in sports and physical activities can offer numerous benefits to children aged 2-5. While the focus for children in this age group should primarily be on having fun and developing fundamental motor skills, there are several advantages to engaging in sports and physical play during this stage of development.

Physical Fitness: Regular physical activity is vital for maintaining and improving a child's physical fitness. It can help prevent issues related to sedentary lifestyles and obesity.

Cognitive Development: Sports can enhance cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, spatial awareness, and decision-making. Children learn to understand rules and follow instructions, which can stimulate their cognitive development.

Physical Development: Sports and physical activities promote the development of fundamental motor skills, such as running, jumping, balancing, and coordination. These skills are essential for a child's overall physical development.

Social Skills: Team sports and group activities provide opportunities for children to interact with their peers, fostering social development. They learn to share, take turns, and work together, which are valuable skills for building relationships.

Gross Motor Skills: Engaging in sports helps children improve their gross motor skills, which involve large muscle groups. This includes activities like running, kicking, throwing, and catching, which are fundamental for physical competence.

Discipline: Sports teach children discipline, as they learn to follow rules, respect their coaches, and commit to practices and games.

Play and Fun: Most importantly, sports for young children should be enjoyable and fun. It's a way for them to explore their physical abilities and enjoy their childhood.

Emotional Development: Through sports, children can learn to manage their emotions, cope with winning and losing, and handle frustration. These experiences contribute to emotional intelligence and self-regulation.
